Apple season is typically in the fall. They are harvested from September through Autumn, with many varieties being at their best from September to November.
Apples were first popularized in China, later in Europe and then the Americans. There are 7500 cultivars of apples. Different apples are bred for various tastes and uses, including cooking, eating raw, cider or apple juice production.
Apples range from tart, Granny Smith to sweet, and Fuji. Commercially apples can be stored for months, in controlled atmosphere chambers, allowing them to be available during the winter months.
